OMG. What the hell? Did anyone else watch Miss Universe? Did anyone else think that Miss Australia, while not unattractive, did NOT measure up to her fellow top 5??? Maliha and I were sure that Paraguay was going to win. Especially when we listened to the god-awful answers all the girls gave.. I mean, Paraguay may have chosen Eva Peron, a woman who caused the value of her country's currency to go down, but at least it was better than choosing to be a woman of today "because we have lots of freedoms." Yeah, right. We women DO NOT have a lot of freedoms, not as a whole, not even close. These women are hell ass dumb, but pretty.

Also, watched the Summerland premiere, which was pretty good, though formulaic and with iffy acting at times. I may actually watch it this summer!

i can't say i've ever watched any of that crap (sorry to anyone who likes that stuff)... but: yay australia!

I only watched the beginning where they were all saying what country they were from and stuff...all I remember is that I thought Miss Germany was pretty. lol.

tristan: yes, it is rather a lot of crap, but i just can't help but be fascinated... it's rather like the concept of an accident--can't look away, you know? but i suppose you should be proud of your miss australia.. she was up against tough 'competition.'

steph: see, i only caught the end so i missed germany... but there were lots of gorgeous women! south america just keeps churnin' em out...

It's Tillie-face!
I watched Summerland's premier, too. Mainly, it was because I thought from the promos that it was gonna be a rip off of OC. It actually seems fun, though, even if the kids have sooo many problems for youngn's their age.

No kiddin' Tillie dahhhling... that one girl, in particular, was a very hard nut to crack... and that older boy! Wantin' to get it on with an older woman.. drinking.. and did you see previews? He's going to be indulging in other things as well...

Hi there! First time poster and reader and I stumbled through to your site from the "Weblog Review".

Anyway about Miss Universe.. on the whole I think they've dumbed down the pagent itself. I remember when QandA were extremely important and contestants woulc go through several QandA sessions throughout the night. Now it's just like a 5 minute obligation.

Miss Australia was pretty (bias here because she is a fellow Aussie), but I think Paraguay's downfall was she went over time in answering her question... that and her country wasn't part of the coalition of the willing :P

Hi and welcome Mushroom!

I agree with you that the contest has dumbed down. I mean, not that I have watched it in years past much or anything, but on the whole, if it is supposed to be a scholarship competition (I'm not certain if it still is) I feel there ought to be some sort of academic aspect to it, eh?
