Hee hee.
Today so far has been the most excellent day. Shall I tell you all about the fabulousness so you can share it? I think so. So I was sitting in Union Square Park, reading Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (which, by the way, is postively wonderful) and I finish and begin to take my leave when this guy and girl approach me. "Hi, we do casting for Microsoft and we were wondering if you were interested," the guy says. I look at them, bewildered. Casting for Microsoft? Is this some sort of hidden camera test where I'll be revealed to have fallen for some elaborate hoax pointing out the fact that I'm a huge geek? "What?" I ask intelligently, eyes agoggle and limbs askew (okay, so that part didn't happen). "Yeah, it'd be a half-day photoshoot for the brochures and CDs during the week of June 18 and you'd get $500," the girl replies. Wow, so THIS is how they get all the happy looking regular people, I think to myself. I agree, and they take two Polaroids of me--one up close and one from further away. Then I fill out the contact information and I see out of the corner of my eye the guy nodding at the Polaroids as they develop. They smile, we exchange thank yous and goodbyes. Hopefully it's not some scam, but they didn't ask me for money and the girl seemed really nice and sincere. If it was two guys.. I would be questioning things. But somehow the girl's presence made it more legit. Also, I think I saw Ben Stiller on Sixth Ave today. I was walking, and for some reason, this short guy on a street corner who is talking to another guy on a bike caught my eye. I thought to myself, he looks really familiar. I get closer and keep staring from the safety of my sunglasses, and then I hear it. The Ben Stiller laugh. So I'm pretty sure it was him. Really short though, whoo. Today has been the first day where I haven't been a little sad over the loss of my job. Seriously, I am glad now that I don't have it anymore. Instead of being cooped up in front of a computer, I was outside in the beautiful weather, finished my errands, swished about in a flare-y skirt, got asked to be in a photoshoot, saw Ben Stiller, got invited to a library BBQ (unfortunately it looks as though it'll be on the same day as Kaiser and Asma's wedding--seriously, what is it with June 18th? Popular day for things), watched glints of gold swirl down from trees, talked to a random stranger from Montreal, and went to Whole Foods--yay! Also got Facebooked by a certain someone. Lovely lovely lovely. Plus, this last Saturday, went to a party and met all these interesting Tischies. I even met a guy who's working on the Apprentice with Martha Stewart (The Homemaker? The Genericizer?) and two girls who work on Room Raiders (which I have seen far too much of for my own good). And a guy who was finalist in the Coca Cola Refreshing Filmmakers Award competition. And a guy who composes music for feature films. I tell ya, those Tischies are crazy. P.S. I also got the strangest compliment ever. I was walking along, when a girl in pink catches my eye. I look at her, and it looks like April, one of the girls who was on my floor freshman year. I look at her, and she starts looking at me, but without any hint of recognition. Right before she's about to pass me, I say, "April? Is that you?" And she stops, gives me a bewildered look. I remove my sunglasses and then her face opens in welcome. Turns out she was staring at my collar bones. Apparently, I have nice ones. So take that!
Don't ya love when folks just randomly appear everywhere on everything. Online, IM, NYC during the first week of August. It's crazy. Tischies...ahahahah
