Last night was one of those lovely, spontaneous New York nights - Lisa and I had planned out our free/cheap food tour for the night. Our destinations? Red Mango in Koreatown, where they were offering free yogurt to celebrate their grand opening. Then, on to Friedman's Deli, where they were offering 8 cent hot dogs, latkes, and matzoh ball soup.

We ran into a coworker on the subway to Red Mango and he joined us on our journey. The line was not too bad and moved quickly, so soon enough I was enjoying my plain yogurt with strawberries. We all stood there chatting for a bit, then said farewell to the coworker and made our way to Chelsea Market, where Friedman's is located.

Got myself a matzoh ball soup, which I'd never had before, and Lisa got a latke. Both were delicious, and we ate our 9 cent (with tax) food while watching the free salsa dancing lessons that were going on in the market.

Then on our way out, I spotted a sign that had Morimoto on it and mentioned it to Lisa, asking her if she wanted to go and take a look at the restaurant. She readily agreed and soon we found ourselves outside of Morimoto, which is right across from Craftsteak and Del Posto - quite a trifecta of restaurants on one street! We popped in to see if they had any room for us and they did! We sat at the sushi bar, next to an Asian couple who barely said two words to one another
the entire meal, and consumed our anago sushi (for me) and spicy tuna (for her) and yellowtail "bibimbop" with glee. The decor was nice, if a bit cold, and the food was lovely but unexceptional.

The bathrooms, however, are a whole other story. Morimoto has these Japanese toilets that will do everything from flushing to cleaning to drying. I tried everything out and couldn't stop laughing.
