the red carpet from my perspective

EASTER EGG 2:story - How do I even start? This was the most exciting night I've had in a long time. It all started at 5:00, an hour and a half before the celebs were due to arrive. Suzanne had found the place of the world premiere of "Love Actually," and I was to head uptown first to stake a spot.

Good thing I did, cause soon after I got there, women started crowding around. There was a half-hour or so when we were all very confused as to whether we would have access to the celebrities or not. Ah, and by "we," I mean fellow Firth fans with whom I had bonded quickly.

Eventually, we actually got inside the tent (it was raining) and had prime spots next to the red carpet!

It was slow going at first--waiting around, watching the press set up cameras. But soon the first limo arrived, carrying Bill Nighy, whose wife is marvelously kind. I told him so, and he replied, "Yes, she is sweet isn't she?"

The next celebrity that came up close to us was Kelly Clarkson, very down-to-earth and nice. She wore a simple black dress that worked beautifully for her.

Then, Emma Thompson. Wow, I am now a lifetime fan. She was so funny and chatty with us; when one of my fellow Firth lovers told her she looked gorgeous and not to mind the press calling her dowdy, Emma gave a big whoop of laughter which was captured in her photograph. She also joked with us when Colin came, telling us to scream louder because "he loves it!" Her husband, Greg Wise, was there too! He looked shorter in real life, and wasn't nearly as chatty as his wife. We (being the Austen fans we are) yelled out "Greg! Mr. Willoughby!" and he did a little jig for us before resuming his job as behind-the-scenes, supportive husband.

But of course, Colin Firth--by the time he reached us, he seemed much less happy, had a plastered-on sort of smile. But when he finished autographs and met up with his wife, he smiled a real smile, and all I can say is, that girl is damn lucky.

Oh dear, I'm starting to remember things in bits and pieces already! From here on, it's not going to be chronological. Saw Rowan Atkinson, Alan Rickman, and Liam Neeson, but they all didn't stop for autographs--hurried on by after one quick photo-op. As for who walked on by without any photo-op: Natasha Richardson, Claudia Schiffer, Lili Taylor, Kristen Johnson, Richard Curtis, Salman Rushdie (with wife-of-month clad in full-body silver), Jai Rodriguez (from Queer Eye), Josh Groban (actually didn't realize it was him until went to Gettyimages and saw his name), and Joan Collins.

Hugh Grant also was rushed, not happy looking. Much shorter looking also; only a head taller than me, and I'm 5' 6". His unhappy demeanor really made me re-consider secret-ish dream of being famous actress, because if I got sick of premieres, well, the world would be a sad place indeed. Instead, Suzanne and I have decided we want to be rich with famous connections.
